A Kenyan delegation arrived in Haiti this Monday, May 20, to prepare for the deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission.
This Monday, May 20, 2024, a delegation of senior Kenyan officials, led by the mission force commander, arrived in Haiti, aboard a flight Sunrise Airways. According to the latest information, the team’s mission is to prepare the ground for the deployment of Kenyan forces, responsible for stabilizing the security situation in Haiti.
The main objective of this preliminary mission is to examine the conditions on the ground and ensure that all logistical and operational aspects are ready for the arrival of the first contingents of Kenyan police officers and support personnel under the deployment of the MMSS.
According to the Miami Herald, members of the Kenyan delegation during their week-long stay will have an extremely busy schedule, and several strategic meetings are planned with the United Nations Integrated Office in Port-au-Prince. These discussions are essential to harmonize efforts between the different actors and develop an effective strategy to fight against the armed gangs which sow terror in Port-au-Prince.
