Donald Guerrier announces the end of his international career

The iconic Haitian footballer, Donald Guerrier, bids farewell to the national team after 13 years of remarkable service. The native of Port-à-Piment decided to come full circle at 35.

Donald Guerrier, one of the most talented and charismatic players in Haitian football of his generation, has announced his international retirement. After an incredible career marked by memorable moments and impressive exploits, Guerrier retires from the national team with dignity and the feeling of a duty well accomplished.

Donald Guerrier made his international debut in 2010, during a match which marked the start of an exceptional career with the Haitian selection against Guyana in a friendly on November 2. From his first moments on the pitch, Guerrier demonstrated that he will be an important element in the Grenadiers’ system, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the national team.

One of the most memorable moments of his career undoubtedly remains his spectacular goal against Spain during a friendly match in June 2013. Which suddenly opened up a club career for him in Europe (the old Continent). During this meeting, Guerrier dribbled through the entire Spanish defense before scoring an anthology goal, perfectly illustrating his exceptional talent and offensive flair.

As a reminder, the DG77 participated in a Copa America Centenario in 2016 and 3 Gold Cups with the Blues and Reds in 2013, 2015 and 2019. Another unforgettable moment came during the 2019 Gold Cup, when Guerrier scored the decisive third goal of the Haitian selection against Canada. This goal not only sealed Haiti’s victory but also allowed the team to qualify for the semi-finals, thus marking the history of Haitian football.

In a moving publication on his Facebook and Instagram pages, Donald Guerrier shared his feelings with his fans: _“It has been a long journey full of pride, but if you dream, have ambition and want to work hard, then you can succeed. #2010-2023. “._

These words perfectly sum up the fighting spirit and determination that characterized his career. Guerrier has inspired many young people in Haiti, showing that with dreams, ambition and hard work, anything is possible.
