P-to-P, April 30, 2024 [AlterPresse] — The Presidential Transitional Council (Cpt) had, on Monday April 29, 2024, at the Villa d’Accueil (eastern sector), a first official meeting with the High Staff of the Haitian National Police (Pnh ) and that of the Armed Forces of Haiti (Fad’h), according to information gathered by the online agency AlterPresse.

Discussions between the Transitional Council, the Pnh and the Fad’h, respectively led by interim director general Frantz Elbé and Colonel Jodel Lesage, focused on the climate of terror in Haiti.

This highly strategic meeting made it possible to “analyze the security situation and, by mutual agreement, to identify possible solutions to the burning issue of insecurity and kidnapping, which for several years have represented the main concern of the entire population,” indicates an official note read by the online agency AlterPresse.

The meeting on Monday April 29, 2024 took place less than 24 hours before the holding of the elections to elect a coordinator at the head of the Cpt, exercising the powers of the presidency.

The ballot for the designation of the president of the Cpt will be held this Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. (2:00 p.m. GMT) at the Welcome Villa (east sector).

The vote takes place in the presence of the press and representatives of the signatory sectors of the political agreement of April 3, 2024, creating the Cpt, according to an official announcement consulted by AlterPresse.

This election will follow the installation of the 9 members of the Cpt, on Thursday April 25, 2024, carried out at the National Palacein a context of increasing terror and violence from armed gangs, which occupy approximately 90% of the metropolitan area of ​​the capital, Port-au-Prince.

The 4 candidates in the running are Louis Gérald Gilles, Leslie Voltaire, Edgard Leblanc Fils and Fritz Alphonse Jean.
