The Haitian State, through the ULCC, is now a member of the largest global network of anti-corruption authorities.

Through the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC), the Haitian State is now a member of the “GlobE Network”, the largest global network of anti-corruption authorities. According to a note from the ULCC, this membership, supported by the persistent efforts of the Director General of the ULCC, Me Hans Ludwig Joseph, comes at a decisive moment when the country calls for a necessary strengthening of international cooperation in the fight against against corruption and recovery of ill-gotten gains.

According to Me Jacques Hans Ludwig Joseph, this is a major step forward which confirms the determination of the Haitian State to track down squanderers of public funds everywhere, and this new concrete action by the ULCC will facilitate, among other things, the detection of assets and investments of people under investigation in Haiti for corruption.

“Established under the auspices of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in 2021, the Globe Network brings together, to date, 206 law enforcement authorities specialized in the fight against corruption. This informal transnational cooperation structure facilitates the rapid sharing of information between peers to better identify, investigate and prosecute cross-border corruption offenses and recover stolen assets,” we read in this note.

It should be noted that on the sidelines of its participation in the 15th session of the Group for Review of the Application of the Convention of United Nations against corruption on international cooperation and at the 18th session of the Open-ended Working Group on Asset Recovery, being held at the Vienna International Center, Austria, from June 10 to 14, 2024, the Republic of Haiti has demonstrated its commitment to taking full advantage of this Network of Authorities.
