The MENFP suspends the management license and teaching license of a school director in the North-East for violence against a schoolgirl

The Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) announces in a note the suspension of the management and teaching permits of Mr. Anebert Joseph, director of the Béthel Béthesda national school in the North-East, following acts of serious violence against a schoolgirl from the establishment.

According to the MENFP, this decision was taken after a report from the North-East departmental education directorate, confirming acts of violence that occurred on April 22, 2024 inside the Béthel Béthesda national school.

According to officials, the behavior of Mr. Anebert Joseph goes against educational principles and legal provisions prohibiting corporal punishment in schools.

Faced with this behavior deemed inappropriate, additional administrative measures will be taken by the ministry, following the report of the General Inspectorate of Education, in order to deepen the investigation.

The Ministry also provides psychological monitoring for the student concerned, in order to prevent any harm to their education.

The MENFP in its note calls on all other school directors to respect the right of each child to learn in an environment free of violence.

The move comes after a video surfaced online showing the principal whipping the student in rage, alleging she was possessed by a voodoo spirit.
