The new Prime Minister of Haiti, Garry Conille, and his cabinet were installed this Wednesday during a ceremony at the Villa d’Accueil in Musseau.

This event took place in the presence of Maria Isabelle Salvador, representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Haiti, as well as members of the Diplomatic Corps and the President of the Court of Cassation.

Edgard Leblanc Fils, president of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), underlined the crucial role of this new government. Together with the CPT, this cabinet is responsible for overcoming the current multidimensional crisis and putting Haiti back on the path to development.

“It is up to your government to restore security and revive economic and social activities in this country ravaged by the violence of armed gangs; awaken consciences and mobilize all energies in order to pave the way for the organization of free, democratic, credible, transparent elections (the results of which are accepted by all,” declared Leblanc.

For his part, Prime Minister Garry Conille declared: “Zero tolerance against corruption! “. He stressed the need to effectively manage the state’s limited resources.

During his speech, Garry Conille called on Haitians not to ignore the country’s problems in order to better find solutions. He painted a realistic picture of the current situation, evoking the “painful reality” of the country and urging “courage” and “determination” to face the challenges.

The Prime Minister also urged his cabinet members to fully engage in recovery efforts. He affirmed the need to restore order in Haiti as quickly as possible.

In addition to Garry Conille, the 14 members of his cabinet took up their positions. Some of them will manage two portfolios, bringing the total to 18 ministries.

Before his appointment, Garry Conille, who had already been Prime Minister of Haiti between 2011 and 2012 under the presidency of Michel Martelly, had headed the regional directorate of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for Latin America since 2023. and the Caribbean.
