In a notice published this Thursday, August 22, 2024, the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities (MICT) announced the resumption of passport production for Monday, August 26. This decision comes, according to the DIE, after the “eleven thousand seven hundred and seventy (11,770) passports successfully passed the control stage.”
According to the Immigration and Emigration Directorate (DIE) of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities (MICT), these eleven thousand seven hundred and seventy (11,770) passports were pending. “These booklets, which were pending, are now ready for delivery,” reads the press release.
Therefore, according to the DIE, the production of passports will resume on Monday, August 26 “with a methodology optimized for efficiency” and “informs that all its services are fully operational, and arrangements have been made to ensure improved production and rapid delivery of passports.”
Furthermore, the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration promises that each request will be processed according to established procedures and with all speed.
A week ago, the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) announced the temporary suspension of the production of new passports from Monday, August 19. The Directorate said it wanted to release pending passports in order to improve the quality of service in the long term.
Young Stéphane Vincent was recently appointed as the institution’s director general. When he was installed, he promised quality service to citizens, especially Haitians in the diaspora who struggle to renew their passports in the various Haitian embassies or consulates.
