The Haitian National Police (PNH) announced the arrest of Jean Bernard Joseph, a suspect in the case of the seizure of weapons and ammunition at the port of Cap-Haitien, last Friday, April 5. The arrest took place on Saturday April 13, 2024.
“This Saturday, April 13, 2024, around 5:45 p.m., BLTS investigators on detachment in the North carried out the arrest of the name Jean Bernard JOSEPH, born April 25, 1978 in Pétion-Ville (West), identified by his National identification card at number: 1256170963, Head of department and supervisor at customs, at the Cape terminal level,” the Police indicated in a press release.
The police institution specified that Joseph was arrested for his complicity in the illicit international trafficking of firearms and ammunition following a warrant issued against him by the Government Commissioner at the Court of First instance of Cap-Haïtien, Me Charles Édouard Durand, dated April 12, 2024, in the context of the case relating to the seizure of (26) firearms, (999) cartridges and (34) magazines, on Friday April 5 2024 to the National Port Authority of Cap-Haitien (APN).
Note that a Land Rover brand vehicle, LR4 model, all-terrain type, white in color, registration DD-0540 and a large sum in local currency valued at (482,000 gdes) and an amount of (40 US) were seized in the context of this case, during this arrest.
