The body of the Haitian who jumped into an irrigation canal in Navarrete, Santiago province allegedly to escape Dominican immigration, has been found.
According to reports, the man died of asphyxiation following his drowning in the Dominican irrigation canal.
Aluis Charles, name of the Haitian national who tried to escape Dominican immigration control by jumping into the irrigation canal, was found and identified by his relatives on Sunday April 21, 2024.
A statement from the Dominican Civil Defense clarified that the institution of the Dominican Republic did not participate in the search for Aluis Charles because, the institution maintains, it had not been informed of it.
Note that another Haitian national by the name of Wilbert Souvenir had denounced that the immigration control agents had proceeded to leave the scene without arresting anyone and without doing anything to help his compatriot, describing their action as inhumane.
Let us also remember that Aluis Charles is the brother of Rosemène Charles, this Haitian national who was killed by a car on the Joaquín Balaguer highway while trying to escape Dominican immigration, during a check.
