White, dark or milk, chocolates are all delicious! But if you want to pay attention to your diet, it’s important to know that they don’t all have the same sugar levels. Doctor Jimmy Mohammed explains everything to us.

White, milk or dark chocolate: how much sugar?

In a video published on his Instagram account, doctor and columnist Jimmy Mohamed decipher the composition of different types of chocolate. So, in white chocolate, no trace of cocoa ! It consists of sugar and fat.

In a Kinder type chocolate, there is only 15% cocoa, ” It’s not much ” explains the specialist. The rest consists of sugar, around 50 g per 100 g of chocolate, dairy products, around 30% and fat.

The milk chocolate has around 30% cocoa. But it is still necessary count 50 g of sugar, a fairly high quantity. The rest is made up of fat.

Quant dark chocolate, there is 70% cocoa and only 20 g of sugar per 100 g of product. “It’s a product that is still of better quality” concludes the specialist.

Finally, it presents 100% cocoa chocolate. “For those who succeed, it’s complicated, the taste is special” he indicates. In this product, we therefore find 100% cocoa, and no sugar. The fat remains present.

For health, it is better to consume dark chocolate than white or milk chocolate.

The 4 benefits of chocolate

As Doctor Jimmy Mohamed explains in his video, for health, it is preferable to favor the dark chocolate. Indeed, it has many benefits such as:

  • Be a source of trace elements : magnesium, zinc and iron. These have many health benefits;
  • Reduce the risk of heart disease : diets rich in flavanols (found in dark chocolate) improve vascular health by helping blood vessels function better, lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease;
  • Improve brain functions : regular (but moderate!) consumption of dark chocolate helps improve blood circulation, including that of the brain;
  • Maintain the intestinal microbiota : rich in polyphenols, cocoa appears to modulate the microbes that live in the gut. Eating chocolate provides an anti-inflammatory response and reduces the risk of heart disease and diabetes.

Of course, to achieve good health, the diet must be moderate, healthy, and balanced. Eating only chocolate, even dark chocolate, is not enough to maintain good health.
