This Tuesday, Presidential Advisor Leslie Voltaire, representing the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), visited E-Power and the EDH substation in Delmas 33. Accompanied by Daniel Rouzier, Chairman of the Board of Directors of E-Power, Voltaire assessed the current energy situation in order to resolve the electricity shortage in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.

“The Transitional Presidential Council is committed to this process because it believes that there can be no development without electricity,” he said. The visit is part of an initiative to gather information on the 30 megawatts of electricity supplied by E-Power and EDH, as well as the 33 megawatts from Péligre and the “Vareux” terminal, totaling 63 megawatts for EDH.

Jean Errol Morose, Director General of EDH, indicated that 300 megawatts are needed to fully serve the metropolitan area. Voltaire also announced that the CPT will give instructions to the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications, Ing. Hosty Raphaël, to quickly resolve the problems of the EDH’s electricity networks.
