A Haitian and a Jamaican arrested in Cap-Haitien in possession of 192.5 kilos of a substance comparable to marijuana.

National police officers assigned to Cap-Haitien proceeded, on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, to the arrest of Mitchell Winston Evan, originally from Jamaica, a Haitian in possession of a substance assimilated to marijuana, in the area called “Fort Saint-Michel.

According to a note from the PNHthe BI/CAP, reinforced by Coast Guard agents and supported by judicial authorities, seized 192.5 kg of a substance comparable to marijuana, found inside the vehicle.

The people arrested were in a vehicle registered TQ 16409, parked at the seaside, accompanied by Lebrun Amos and a young man aged 21. The man named Mitchell Winston Evan threw himself into the water with the vehicle, seeing the arrival of the Cap-Haïtien Intervention Brigade patrol. While Lebrun Amos, owner of a hotel located in the Commune of Limonade, had time to flee.

According to information available to the PNH, the 21-year-old has already paid a sum of money to Amos Lebrun in order to allow him to travel on board a boat which was to pick up the seventy-eight packets of marijuana seized by law enforcement officers, the note continues.

For the moment, the Jamaican and the Haitian are placed in police custody while awaiting the necessary legal action.
