After three months of suspension, American Airlines is resuming its flights to Port-au-Prince. A decision welcomed by the American embassy in Haiti

This Thursday, May 30 marks the long-awaited resumption of the company’s flights American Airlines to Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince, after a suspension of almost three months due to gang violence. This news delights many travelers, eager to be able to travel to the United States from Haiti again.

The resumption of flights by American Airlines is the first step in a series of returns by American airlines to the Haitian capital. JetBlue plans to land in Port-au-Prince on June 5, followed by Spirit Airlines which also has reservations scheduled for the same month.

The United States Embassy in Haiti welcomed this decision by American Airlines in an official note, expressing its hope to see other American airlines follow this example soon.

“We thank OFNAC, AAN, Haitian National Police, airport staff and security services who worked together to strengthen security conditions at Toussaint Louverture International Airport

This collaboration between the various Haitian and American authorities was crucial to ensure the security and stability necessary for the resumption of flights, thus offering renewed hope and dynamism for trade between Haiti and the United States.
