Respectively affected in the shoulder and knee, Julius Randle (Knicks) and Joel Embiid (Sixers) should miss the All-Star Game in Indianapolis, scheduled for February 18.
Like every year, or almost, injuries could modify the All-Star Game teams. This year, the NBA has returned to a classic East versus West format, and on the East side, two players are very uncertain for the meeting which will take place on February 18 in Indianapolis.
It is Joel Embiidholder, and Julius Randle, selected as a replacement Thursday evening. The first suffers from a meniscus in his left knee, and there is little chance that he will take the risk of participating in the match. The 2023 MVP has already missed 13 games this year, and he is already out until Monday to treat his knee, badly affected during a clash with Jonathan Kuminga, the Warriors winger.
Who to replace them?
For the moment, the Sixers rule out the idea of an operation, but it is hard to imagine him showing up in Indianapolis with a weakened knee. As for Julius Randle, very good with the Knicks, he dislocated his shoulder a week ago, and his absence is estimated between 2 and 3 weeks. In the best case scenario, he could be present in Indianapolis, but that would be taking a big risk.
Especially since, like Embiid, we are not talking about an operation, but the joint is very weakened, and any relapse, and therefore any anticipated recovery, should be avoided. To possibly replace them, we are thinking of Kristaps Porzingis, in great form with the Celtics, and Jarrett Allen, the double-double man of the Cavaliers.
