It was on the orders of the investigating judge, Merlan Belabre, that the Secretary General of the Senate of the Republic, Marie Nelly Verpile Boyer, was released this Thursday, May 9, 2024. Arrested last Thursday, May 2, she will have spent a week in prison for “cases of corruption” detected in the Grand Corps by the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC).

Theft of vehicles and the granting of debit cards to individuals are, among other things, the acts which Ms. Boyer was accused of and which led to her incarceration.

His release comes after his lawyers filed a request for a free hand in his favor for “humanitarian reasons”. In addition, her defendants argue that their client was not an authorizing officer at the time of the events.
