Artist Ray Raymond clarifies rumors about his participation in Festi Kanal.
In a recent video shared on his TikTok account, artist Ray Raymond, real name Henri Robert Junior Raymond, firmly denied on Sunday, August 25, 2024, the rumors circulating on social networks regarding his supposed non-participation in the Festi Kanal in Ouanaminthe. According to these rumors, Ray Raymond refused to participate in the event, claiming that he is not Haitian, but Dominican, and that he did not wish to take part in any Haitian activity.
In the face of these rumors, which have sparked a strong reaction online, Ray Raymond has clarified the situation. The artist categorically denied having made such statements, specifying that no event organizer had contacted him about it. He accused the people behind this erroneous information of simply trying to create buzz.
Ray Raymond also addressed the issue of his Dominican nationality, a decision he explained was linked to his musical career, but which he said does not change his attachment to Haiti. “I am Haitian, and it is in Haiti that my family was born,” he said, emphasizing that his musical journey and the support he has received are the fruit of his Haitian roots.
The artist insisted that neither his departure abroad nor the evolution of his career would make him disown his home country. On the contrary, he continues to recognize and appreciate what Haiti has done for him.
Ray Raymond called on his fans and netizens to exercise discernment and not to trust rumors circulating on social networks, unless they come directly from him.
