The FJKL welcomes the order of Judge Edwige Dorsainvil concerning the assassination case of journalist Néhémie Joseph

In an eight (8) page report published this Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the Bright Eyes Foundation (FJKL) welcomes a positive step forward in establishing the truth through the order of the investigating judge at the Court of First Instance of Mirebalais, Edwige Dorsainvil in the context of the assassination case of the journalist Néhémie Joseph in which a former Senator of the Republic is indicted.

Concerning the motive for the crime which was committed on October 10, 2019 in Mirebalais, the FJKL underlines that the investigation reveals that the journalist is the victim of a vast plot prepared at the town hall of Mirebalais and executed on the orders of a security official of the town hall who is also a former security agent of the Haitian parliament. The motives for the crime are sentimental, economic and political.

Detailing the strong points of the order, Fondasyon Je Klere says it regrets the limits of this order, emphasizing that it intends to follow the evolution of this case until the organization of a fair and equitable trial to allow the Haitian people, within the framework of a contradictory debate, to discover the truth and to see the responsibilities fixed within the framework of this magnicide. The FJKL urges the government in place to rid Mirebalais Town Hall of the indicted Mayor, Lochard Laguerre, as quickly as possible.

It should be noted in this order dated March 8, 2024, that the named Yolette Jeanty and Garry Pierre Paul Charles are dismissed from the bonds of indictment, and the named Juste Chandou Clerjeune, Rony Celestin, Elionel Casseus, Angelina Fabiola Cameau, Lochard Laguerre, Rosevald Douyon, Lenel AC and Huguens Charles are referred to the Criminal Court sitting with the assistance of a jury to be tried in accordance with the provisions of articles 44, 45, 241 of the penal code and article 119 of the code of criminal investigation.
