12-year-old prodigy graduates from high school and plans to attend New York University in the fall
Suborno Isaac Bari, 12, celebrated his high school graduation at Malverne, New York, high school on June 26, as reported by Good Morning America.
According to the article, the preteen skipped grades 5, 6, 7, 9 and 11, completing only grades 4, 8, 10 and 12, while still passing the New York State Regents exams to graduate.
Rebecca Gottesman, director of the Malverne Free School District’s K-12 school counseling service, told GMA that Bari scored a 1500 on the SAT, scored a 34 on the ACT and took five AP courses during her recent studies.
Speaking about his academic career with GMA, Bari described his experience as “long” but also rewarding. “It was an absolutely wonderful experience,” he said. “I met so many great people and learned so much in math, science and other disciplines.”
“But I think I’m ready to pursue my higher education as best I can,” Bari continued.
When talking about how his older peers and academic leaders treated him, he added, “They treated me like any other high school student…and that’s how I really wanted to be treated by the community. »
Bari now plans to attend New York University later this year, where he will study for a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics, according to GMA. He then hopes to earn a doctorate and become a professor.
Looking ahead to his chosen career, Bari told the outlet that he wants to pursue it because it is his passion, and he believes that everyone should follow their dreams. “Do what you do because you love it, because of the passion you feel in portraying it or doing it,” he concluded.
