Prime Minister Garry Conille expresses support for police officers injured during operations in downtown Port-au-Prince
Haitian Prime Minister Dr. Garry Conillevisited, this Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the police officers injured during recent operations in downtown Port-au-Prince, expressing his support and gratitude to these officers for their bravery and dedication.
“My presence is to show my support to the valiant police officers who were shot in the line of duty. I thank them, on behalf of the population, for their sacrifice.”declared the Head of Government during his visit to the hospital where the police officers are being treated.
The three SWAT officers injured during an operation conducted on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 in the Bel-Air and Solino neighborhoods were shot while carrying out their duties. The Prime Minister stated that “The government will stand by their side and support them through this ordeal”.
Dr Garry Conille stressed the importance of not letting the sacrifice of the police officers be in vain, stressing that restoring security in the country is the best way to pay tribute to their commitment. “We will not back down…”he concluded, reiterating the government’s determination to continue the fight for security.
The Prime Minister’s visit comes amid heightened tension and violence in the Haitian capital, where law enforcement is facing growing challenges in maintaining public order.
