The leader of “Solèy lafwa”, the former Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, Jimmy Albert, relies on the involvement of the Haitian National Police (PNH) to guarantee the safety of participants in the activities of the preparatory novena for the feast of the Virgin Mary, known as Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
From June 18 to 26, the Catholic faithful are invited to participate in activities dedicated to the preparatory novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Under the theme “Jezi vin ede’n, Manman Pèpetyèl vin pote’n sekou”, the programs include the recitation of the rosary, adoration to the Blessed Sacrament, and prayer concerts, announces the head of “Solèy lafwa”, Jimmy Albert.
Preparations are well underway to restore the physical environment of the Notre Dame du Perpétuel Secours parish. Cleaning and painting operations at the temple are accelerating, according to former minister Albert.
However, concerns related to the safety of pilgrims remain. The leader of “Solèy lafwa” emphasizes having had a meeting this Saturday with the General Directorate of the PNH to reassure the Catholic faithful. The interim director general of the PNH, Frantz Elbé, promised to strengthen the police presence in the Bel-Air district.
At the same time, Jimmy Albert asks armed groups to observe a truce in order to facilitate the full success of the activities. Commitments were made with the aim of silencing the guns, reports Albert.
More than a dozen priests, including Gilbert Peltrop, Édouard Ducarmel, and Kenold Laventure, will be mobilized to ensure the ceremonies take place. The elevation of Mgr Sander Louis-Jean constitutes a significant point in the history of the parish. Active participation from Mgr Louis-Jean is expected to enhance the event.
