Catastrophic results of Haiti’s youth teams: The FHF is the main culprit

Two Haitian national teams suffered heavy defeats during the months of July and early August 2024. These are the Haitian U20 men’s team and the U15 women’s team.

The U-20 men’s and U-15 women’s national teams were humiliated in the latest CONCACAF compilations. Worse for the little grenadières with 25 goals conceded by the girls for 1 goal scored in 4 matches for 4 defeats. For the boys, 12 goals conceded and 2 goals scored for 3 defeats.

Is the problem only the difficult socio-political situation in the country or the lack of vision of the leaders of the mother institution of Haitian football or the effect of administrative disorders?

In a country where football is the king of sports, the federation has never valued youth championships for boys but also for girls. While FIFA has made available to the FHF from 2016 to 2022 a budget of 11,400,000 US dollars for the development of football in Haiti like all other affiliated countries.

There has never been a Youth Football League in Haiti with a regular championship across the country. But past leaders preferred to concentrate football in Port-au-Prince like all other bodies. On the other hand, FIFA had put $0.4 million for women’s football. What was the real plan of the leaders to develop youth football throughout the country?

After these debacles, is it not necessary to suspend the bluff in national football and rethink it for the next ten (10) years to come? Is it not important to review, recycle and help Haitian coaches to train in the field in order to acquire as much knowledge as possible of this beautiful sport?

What lesson should we learn from these two corrections on an international scale?*
1- We need to rethink national football through youth football of all categories while reviewing the expatriate project which has never brought the expected results.
2- we need to review the training and level of our sports instructors. Too many problems with tactical disorders throughout Haitian football.
3- leaders need to surpass themselves. The time has come to think about the emergence and reform of football in Haiti to forget their pride.
4- It is time for clubs to take responsibility. Considered as the boss of football but doing the opposite.

We need an awakening of conscience to save Haitian football. It is at a standstill.
