Champions League: Opta AI predicts the four future qualifiers for the semi-finals
The first legs of the quarter-finals of the Champions League took place last week with the victory of the FC Barcelona against PSG (3-2) and the spectacular draw of Real Madrid against City (3-3). An Artificial Intelligence (AI) from Opta has already predicted the 4 clubs which will qualify for the semi-finals. According to this prediction, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain will not see the last four of the competition.
For the Opta supercomputer, the chances are minimal for PSG which will travel to Spain next Tuesday to face FC Barcelona who snatched an important victory (2-3) at the Parc des Princes. According to artificial intelligence, the Parisian club has only a 23.44% chance of reaching the final four of the competition.
At the Santiago Bernabeu, the public witnessed a superb meeting between Real Madrid and Manchester City which ended (3-3). Next Wednesday, the White House will travel to England to challenge the Citizens at the Etihad Stadium. According to predictions from Opta’s artificial intelligence, the chances of qualifying are slim for the Madrilenians at 35.45%.
Furthermore, Opta’s supercomputer is already predicting the qualification of Bayern Munich and Atlético for the semi-finals. The Munich club drew away to Arsenal (2-2) while the Spanish club beat Borussia Dortmund at home (2-1).
According to Opta’s artificial intelligence, here are the percentages of clubs’ chances of reaching the last four: FC Barcelona 76.56%, Atlético de Madrid 64.77%, Manchester City 64.55%, Bayern Munich 52.42%, Arsenal 47.58%, Real Madrid, 35.45%, Borussia Dortmund 35.23%, PSG 23.44%.
