The first black woman of Haitian origin elected president of the prestigious Harvard University spent only six months at the head of the institution.
This Tuesday, January 2, 2024, Claudine Gay officially announced her resignation in a letter, six months after his arrival at the head of the prestigious American university. “It has become clear that it is in the best interests of Harvard for me to resign so that our community can navigate this moment of extraordinary challenge with a focus on the institution rather than on any one individual,” she wrote in this letter, the content of which was revealed by the New York Times.
Since October, the president of the prestigious university has been at the heart of numerous controversies, particularly regarding the fight against anti-Semitism on campus, in the midst of the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Middle East.
