This Sunday, July 7, 2024, the Haitian men’s under-20 team will play its first test match for the CONCACAF U-20 Championship. This match will take place at 4 p.m. local time (6 p.m. in Haiti) and will mark an important step in the preparation of the young grenadiers under the direction of coach Angelo Jean-Baptiste.

Since arriving in Mexico on July 3, the young Haitian players have been training intensively to prepare for this major competition. Their first opponent will be Inter de Querétaro FC, a local U-20 team from the Santiago de Querétaro region. This friendly match will allow Angelo Jean-Baptiste and his technical staff to make a preliminary assessment of the abilities and fitness of their players.

This first test is crucial for the Haitian team, as it will allow them to refine their strategies and strengthen their cohesion before the start of the official competition. Haiti U-20 is in Group C and will face formidable teams: Mexico on July 21, Panama on July 24, and Honduras on July 27. The CONCACAF U-20 championship is all the more important as it is a qualifier for the FIFA World Cup Chile 2025. The competition will take place from July 19 to August 4 in the cities of Irapuato and Celaya in Mexico.

For the Haitian national team, this first match against Inter de Querétaro FC will be crucial to assess their preparation and make the necessary adjustments before facing high-level opponents in the CONCACAF championship. The young grenadiers have a unique opportunity to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Chile 2025, and the entire country hopes to see them shine on the international stage.
