PM Conille meets with Haitian industrialists to discuss current economic and industrial challenges

Garry Conille, met, Thursday, June 27, 2024, with members of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH) to discuss current economic and industrial challenges, as well as measures to adopt to revitalize the Haitian economy, according to a press release from the Haitian Prime Minister.
The discussions included, among others, the exemption of taxes on imports of raw materials, the improvement of customs processes, the strengthening of border controls and support for the renewal of the HOPE HELP Act. The Prime Minister also stressed the government’s commitment to combating corruption and updating the tax system to align with current economic realities during the discussions.
The Prime Minister of the Transition first expressed his gratitude to ADIH for its continued efforts to promote industrial development in Haiti. While recognizing the need to achieve political and economic stability with a view to better performance in the industrial sector, Conille assured that the government will take concrete measures to this end as soon as possible, according to the state press release. .
Furthermore, Conille reaffirmed his government’s commitment to working closely with ADIH and other employers’ associations with a view to creating a favourable business environment. He stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and collaboration to address challenges related to the industrial sector, placing particular emphasis on the participation of the economic sector in decision-making and the strengthening of public-private partnership.
According to the Prime Minister’s press release, the meeting ended on a positive note where the stakeholders reiterated their desire to continue discussions and work together for the well-being of the country.
