The former Haitian Prime Minister, Garry Conille, who is represented by Cabinet Hercule, says he became aware via social networks, on January 4, of the photograph of a page of the order emanating from the investigating judge Al Duniel Dimanche, in which his name appeared as well as those of other personalities summoned to appear before the judge as part of the case of misappropriation of materials from the National Equipment Center (CNE).

“To date, Dr. Conille has not been formally notified of the existence of this summons,” clarified Garry Conille’s defense counsel in an official note made public this Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

While Garry Conille was issued with an arrest warrant in the context of this same affair, the Hercule Cabinet, which says it has already initiated legal action to clarify this situation and guarantee respect for his client’s rights, emphasizes that the former Haitian head of government has lived abroad since 2012.

Furthermore, the Hercules Cabinet emphasizes that given that the former head of government currently resides abroad, he has taken steps with the authorities concerned to verify the reasons for the summons which are “totally unknown”.

Garry Conille, through his law firm, said he noticed that he had a warrant signed by the investigating magistrate. “On the night of January 5, 2024, Dr. Conille was informed, still through social networks, of the existence of a new order dated November 5 (sic) 2024, as well as a mandate to bring signed by the investigating judge Al Duniel SUNDAY. This warrant included his name under charges of “Embezzlement of state property linked to corruption,” he deplores.

Garry Conille emphasizes that he has initiated legal action to clarify this situation and guarantee respect for his rights.

“During my time as prime minister, at no time did I receive direct or indirect instructions from the CNE National Equipment Center. I have never requested or received in a personal or official capacity the services, equipment or other of the CNE. I have never visited the CNE premises, participated in work meetings within the framework of the CNE, maintained private or professional relations with CNE employees” declared Garry Conille. He says he hopes this information will help clear up any confusion and ensure respect for rights and justice.
