Academician Emmanuel Michel Bazile passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the age of 82, announced the “Akademi Kreyòl Ayisyen” (AKA). Mr. Bazile died following an illness that he courageously endured.
As one of the first 33 members of the AKA, his passing leaves a huge void in the world of Creole language promotion. The AKA expressed its deep sadness and praised his unwavering commitment to the promotion of Haitian Creole.
Emmanuel Michel Bazile has dedicated his life to the study and promotion of the Creole language. A graduate in linguistics from the Faculty of Applied Linguistics in 1978 and holder of a master’s degree in linguistics from the University of Aix-Marseille I, obtained in 1989, he has participated in numerous publications on education in Creole.
Recommended as an academic by the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), Mr. Bazile is recognized for his significant influence in the field of education and linguistics in Haiti.
