As of Monday, August 19, 2024, the production of new passports will be temporarily suspended.
Due to the accumulation of pending passports at the control section, the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) informs that, from Monday, August 19, 2024, the production of new passports will be temporarily suspended.
According to a notice dated August 16, 2024, the DIE informs that this measure, which aims to restore the proper functioning of the service, will allow the majority of resources to be concentrated on the release of 10,154 pending passports.
However, it reassures the population and partner institutions that this suspension aims to improve the quality of service in the long term and that production will resume with reduced delays and great transparency, once the passports are released.
