In view of the discussions held on a possible revision of the Haitian Constitution of 1987, the Haitian economist Dr. Eddy Labossière formulated a controversial proposal. According to him, the introduction of the death penalty for terrorist criminals is not only justified but also necessary.
“The death penalty is divine,” he declared, stressing the urgency of a firm response to the persistent threat of bandits federated by the PHTK regime and tolerated by the various administrations from Martelly-Lamothe to Ariel Henry via Jovenel-Lapin/Jouthe/Claude Joseph, denounce many citizens and human rights observers.
Dr. Labossière expressed concern about foreign interference, specifically pointing to the involvement of NGOs in the country’s internal affairs. He recalled the suffering endured by the Haitian people in the face of the violent activities of bandits, responsible, according to statistics, for thousands of deaths since their rise to power under the PHTK regime.
He warned that “a people without memory can disappear.” This statement finds particular resonance in a country like Haiti, whose history is punctuated by upheavals and persistent trials.
