Ernesto is not a threat to Haiti. However, the residual moisture from the hurricane that plunged much of Puerto Rico into darkness could cause “some light to moderate showers” in several departments of the country.
Indeed, although Ernesto has moved away from the forecast area of Haiti, it is likely that the residual moisture left behind by the category 1 hurricane will cause showers in certain regions of Haiti, the Hydrometeorological Unit of Haiti (UHM).
The Center, Artibonite, West, Nippes, South-East, South and Grand-Anse are the departments at risk of having rainy activities this Friday, August 16, 2024.
These showers are expected in the afternoon and evening, the UHM indicates in its bulletin.
For Port-au-Prince and its surroundings, the Haitian weather service predicts rainy activities in “several neighborhoods around the capital in the late afternoon and evening.”
The maximum temperature for this Friday, August 16, 2024 could climb to 36 degrees Celsius while the minimum varies between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius.
