As a prelude to the formation of the new government led by Dr. Garry Conille, recently appointed by the Presidential Council, the women’s collective “Fanm Yo La” pleaded for respect for the quota of 30% of women in state decision-making structures. . This initiative is part of a desire to strengthen female representation in authorities, in accordance with the expectations of the Haitian population which is made up of 52% women.

Saluting the courage of the Haitian people and the efforts of the political sectors which resulted in the establishment of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) and the appointment of Prime Minister Garry Conille, “Fanm Yo La” underlined the importance of a significant participation of women in new government structures.

According to “Fanm Yo La”, the current situation in the country requires inclusive and representative decisions to emerge from the crisis. The organization criticized the current composition of the CPT, which includes only one woman without the right to vote, and urged the Prime Minister, the President of the Presidential Council Edgard Leblanc Fils, as well as the other members of the CPT, to respect the provisions of article 17.1 of the Constitution and the priorities of the Agreement of April 3, 2024.
