At the end of a meeting organized on Friday May 24, 2024, with the leaders of the Catalan club, Xavi was informed by Joan Laporta that his mission as coach of FC Barcelona has ended, according to an official press release from the Blaugrana club.
Xavi paid for the poor results accumulated during last season at the head of the club as well as his recent statements at a press conference which exposed the financial state of the club.
After dismissing him, the Catalan leaders thanked Xavi for his work as a coach, as well as his inimitable career as a player and team captain, and wished him every success in the world.
Xavi Hernández, who will coach the team for the last time in Sunday’s match against Sevilla, will be replaced by German Hansi Flick, former manager of FC Bayern Munich. This was confirmed by the Iberian press, specifying that the formalization of the former German coach will take place on Monday.
During his time in Catalonia as a coach, the young Spanish coach, in 3 years, won a La Liga and a Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid FC.
