Flights to and from Port-Au-Prince still at a standstill since the suspension of international flights on March 4. According to the Miami Herald, American airlines are maintaining their withdrawal from Port-au-Prince, with prospects of recovery not before May.

According to information relayed by the Miami Herald on April 16, 2024, American Airlines, as indicated by the newspaper, had considered resuming its daily connections between Miami international airport and Toussaint Louverture airport in Port-au-Prince as soon as this Wednesday. However, the US airline is now announcing that flights may not resume until May 2 at the earliest.

Spirit Airlines, based in Fort Lauderdale and serving Port-au-Prince as well as Cap-Haitien in the north, continues to cancel all its flights to Haiti until further notice. Meanwhile, JetBlue Airways continues to consider resuming flights between Port-au-Prince and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood and John F. Kennedy international airports by May 15, according to information relayed by the Miami Herald .

Note that these flight cancellations occur in a context where armed gangs persist in creating a climate of fear in Port-au-Prince, causing frequent exchanges of fire. This situation leaves many individuals stranded, with limited travel alternatives. Sunrise Airways offers flights from Miami to Cap-Haïtien, although the one-way fare exceeds $900.
