This Sunday, May 26, the special D1 national championship gave its verdict, with Réal Hope Academy crowned champion after a breathtaking final at Parc Saint Victor. After weeks of exciting competition, the Capois triumphed over Ouanaminthe FC in the penalty shootout, winning the title with a final score of 4-2. América des Cayes also shone, grabbing third place by beating Tempête de Saint-Marc 1-0, a victory which meant qualification for the 2024 Caribbean Cup Shield.
It was a real spectacle for the many supporters present. The Ouanaminthe FC players opened the scoring thanks to Widjoly Minoche in the 36th minute, but the Capois quickly responded with an equalizer from Woodensky Pierre during stoppage time in the first half. The second half, although scoreless, was marked by an intense battle for possession and chances on both sides. It was finally during the penalty shootout that Réal Hope Academy was able to show its superiority and composure, achieving a 4-2 victory which had a flavor of revenge after previous defeats against Ouanaminthe FC.
