Despite the circulation of videos and images showing an armored vehicle and the customs office set on fire, the Haitian National Police (PNH) published an official note this Sunday, August 4, clarifying the facts. According to the PNH, the armored vehicle in question had been broken down and parked for some time, and was not participating in police operations in Ganthier.
The police reaffirmed that the security system in the commune remains in place and that operations against the “400 Mawozo” gang are continuing. Under the leadership of the Acting Director General, Mr. Rameau Normil, the PNH is relentlessly pursuing its efforts to neutralize armed gangs, particularly in the Croix-des-Bouquets district.
The police also urged the population to remain vigilant and avoid rumors that could cause panic. The PNH reiterated the importance of collaboration between the police and citizens to eradicate serious crime across the country.
