Prime Minister Garry Conille and Presidential Advisor Louis Gérald Gilles visited the General Hospital after the PNH regained control of the facility.
Accompanied by presidential advisor Louis Gérald Gilles and acting Director General of the Police Rameau Normil, Prime Minister Dr. Garry Conille visited the General Hospital on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, after the Haitian National Police (PNH) regained control of it.
During his visit, presidential advisor Louis Gérald Gilles expressed the hope that Prime Minister Garry Conille will do everything possible to allow the population to have access to the General Hospital.
Garry Conille thanked the PNH high command and the police officers for their determined efforts that made it possible to regain control of the building. He recalled the importance of this hospital which serves the most vulnerable people in the population, emphasizing the need to recover this space which has been providing essential public services for years.
At a press conference held on Monday, July 8, 2024, the Director General of the PNHRameau Normil, had announced that the premises of the General Hospital, the largest hospital in the country, have been under the control of law enforcement since Sunday. This establishment had been occupied by armed men since March, sowing terror in the city center of Port-au-Prince.
