Prime Minister Garry Conille visited Cap-Haïtien this Thursday, August 22, 2024 with a delegation from the government and the diplomatic corps accredited to Haiti, according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office. He is in the Christophe city to assess the infrastructure, economic and tourist potential of the North and Northeast.
While the population is on high alert in certain parts of the capital, Prime Minister Garry Conille flew to Cap-Haïtien at the head of “a large delegation composed of members of the government and the diplomatic corps accredited to Haiti.”
According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the objective of this mission is to “discuss with the authorities in order to assess the infrastructure, economic and tourist potential of the North and North-East departments in order to better articulate and better direct government actions in terms of development of the North Region.”
“We are here to officially visit the Region and consider together options for solutions in order to provide appropriate responses to the socio-economic and security challenges of the country. The North is one of the priorities in the government’s integrated and integral development action plans,” explained Garry Conille, quoted in the press release.
For her part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship Dominique Dupuy made additions on the objectives of such a visit. The stay in Cap-Haïtien will allow the Haitian chancellery to meet the diplomatic corps for a working session in Cap-Haïtien, in the presence of PM @ConilleGarry, in order to assess and energize international commitments around the government’s roadmap, in particular public security, the health situation and food security in preparation for the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly.
“As a prelude to the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly, @MAE_Haiti is meeting with the Diplomatic Corps for a working session in Cap-Haïtien, in the presence of PM @ConilleGarry, in order to assess and energize international commitments around the government’s roadmap, in particular public security, the health situation and food security,” she wrote on X.
The press release from the Prime Minister’s Office failed to specify the date of the return to Port-au-Prince of Prime Minister Garry Conille.
