Prime Minister Garry Conille met with the Association of Industries of Haiti to discuss current economic and industrial challenges.

Prime Minister Garry Conille held a meeting this Thursday, June 27, 2024, with members of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH) to discuss current economic and industrial challenges, as well as measures to be adopted to revitalize the Haitian economy, reported a note from the Prime Minister’s Office.

From the start of the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to ADIH for its continued efforts in promoting industrial development in Haiti. He recognized the need to achieve political and economic stability to improve the performance of the industrial sector, and assured that the government will take concrete measures as soon as possible.

The discussions covered several crucial topics, including exempting taxes on raw material imports, improving customs processes, strengthening border controls, and supporting the renewal of the HOPE HELP Act. The Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to fighting corruption and modernizing the tax system to adapt it to current economic realities.

Dr. Conille reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with the ADIH and other employers’ associations to create a business-friendly environment. He stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and collaboration to address the challenges of the industrial sector. The head of government insisted on the active participation of the economic sector in decision-making and the strengthening of public-private partnership.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with all parties reiterating their willingness to continue exchanges and work together for the well-being of the country.
