With her feature film project entitled “Marie-Madeleine”, Haitian director Gessica Généus attracts the attention of those responsible for the Cannes festival residency. This Wednesday, May 15, 2023, she won the aid award from the National Cinema Center. This will allow him to succeed in his project.

The Cannes Festival residency, with its objective of supporting young directors in the creation of a first and second film, gave twelve directors the opportunity to pitch their production on the CNC square. Two directors among them won the CNC prize at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

After being selected with the film “Freda” in the “Un Certain Regard” category in 2021 at the Cannes Film Festival, this year the actress was selected for her new project Marie-Madeleine. So, with this new project, she won the CNC prize.

In addition to the Haitian, Swedish director Ernst De Geer also won this prize with his new project entitled “The Empaths”.
