Confusion reigns over the cause of the global outage hitting Facebook. The social network cut itself off from the world this Tuesday, March 5, 2024 around 4:30 p.m., leading to a sudden disconnection from the application and the website, as well as an inability to reconnect. Messenger, Facebook’s instant messaging service, was also affected.

Meta Group CEO Mark Zuckerberg is currently traveling in India, and no information has yet been disclosed about the exact cause of the outage, even on the official WhatsApp channel.
Among Meta’s services, WhatsApp seems spared for the moment, although there are doubts regarding Instagram. Some users report forced logouts, while others continue to use the platform without issue.
