The recent armed attack orchestrated by bandits in the Commune of Gressier left at least 25 dead from midday on Sunday, June 30 to Monday, July 1, 2024. The provisional toll was communicated by the interim Executive Agent of the said Commune, Jean Vladimir Bertrand, who spoke on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, on the airwaves of Radio Caraïbes. Collective kidnappings were also recorded, including Reverend Father Emmanuel Saintéliat, priest of the Parish of Saint-Jean Baptiste in Gressier.

THE HAITI FACTOR, July 2, 2024._Speaking this Tuesday, July 2, 2024, on the airwaves of Radio Caraïbes, in the newspaper “Premye Okazyon”, the interim Executive Agent of Gressier, Jean Vladimir Bertrand drew up a partial assessment of the armed attack perpetrated by armed bandits in the Commune.

According to the interim magistrate, the armed gangs, during their irruption in Gressier, killed at least 25 people, including 20 identified on Sunday and 5 others in the afternoon of July 1, 2024, when they learned that the police were going to chase them out of the police station on the square.

After committing the crimes, they subsequently burned the corpses of some residents including a cousin of Magistrate Jean Vladimir Bertrand.

The bandits set fire to his body in the presence of his wife and child, regrets the Acting Executive Agent of Gressier.

“The toll could rise, because there are people killed and their lifeless bodies burned by attackers inside certain houses,” added Mr. Jean Vladimir Bertrand, responding to questions from Godseul Warrior.

In addition to the people murdered by the armed bandits, there was also enormous material damage, the interim Mayor continued.

The President of the interim commission of Gressier reveals that the gangsters collectively kidnapped several people including the Reverend Father Emmanuel Saintéliat, priest of the Parish of Saint-Jean Baptiste of Gressier.

Despite the police regaining control of the Gressier Police Station, Jean Vladimir Bertrand reports that many more families have fled the Gressier Commune compared to the first armed attack by gangs who want to extend their territories to the southern entrance of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.
