The issue of emergency security seems to be one of the least concerns of the Transitional Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille, who prefers to indulge in the official trip to the United States of America in a context where bandits continue to terrorize the population instead of tackling priorities. In Gressier on the night of Sunday, June 30 to Monday, July 1, 2024, at least twenty people were murdered by criminals “Viv ansanm”, deplores the interim executive agent Jean Vladimir Bertrand.
After attacking the Sub-Police Station and forcing the police officers to desert the town, the bandits broke into several private residences to kill, rape and ransom families. Public transport vehicles serving National Road 2 were hijacked, passengers attacked and robbed by outlaws eager to establish themselves in the town.
Early in the morning of Monday July 1, bandits began to demolish the building housing the Sub-Police Station on the main axis of Gressier. Armed with sledgehammers, they managed to bring down the building’s fences, reports the President of the Provisional Executive Council, Jean Vladimir Bertrand.
The mayor denounced the passive hierarchy of the Haitian National Police (PNH), despite calls launched the day before Sunday to limit the damage. For the first citizen of Gressier, Jean Vladimir Bertrand, the security situation remains worrying, with bandits threatening to advance towards the Palmes area.
