At the start of the afternoon of this Tuesday, February 6, 2024, former rebel leader Guy Philippe was spotted in Pétion-Ville, as evidenced by videos posted on social networks.

His presence in this neighborhood has not escaped general attention, as the country holds its breath as February 7 approaches, a date of great importance in the Haitian political landscape.

Accompanied by his security agents, the former elected senator of Grand-Anse, who recently called for a “revolution” to demand the departure of Ariel Henry, was seen greeting a crowd of supporters on Place Saint -Pierre de Pétion-Ville.

Recall that Guy Philippe, former commander of the Haitian National Police, was returned to Haiti on Thursday, November 30, 2023 aboard an Immigration and Customs Enforcement flight, along with more than a dozen others people deported by the United States.

Since the beginning of September 2023, this former fierce opponent of Jean Bertrand Aristide was to be returned to the country after serving seven of the nine years of the sentence imposed on him by a federal judge in Miami.

He had pleaded guilty to a charge of money laundering conspiracy, involving allegations that he received more than $1 million from Colombian cocaine traffickers, and reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors in Miami.
