Cystitisa common urinary tract infection, is often promoted by summer conditions, such as heat, sweating, and water activities.

Here are some habits to adopt to avoid cystitis during this season

1. Adequate hydration

Drink plenty of water throughout the day to maintain good hydration and keep your urinary system working efficiently. This helps flush out bacteria through urination.

2. Urinate regularly

Do not hold your urine. Go to the toilet as soon as you feel the need. This prevents urine from pooling in the bladder, which can promote the proliferation of bacteria.

3. Personal hygiene

Wash regularly with a mild, non-irritating soap. Always wipe from front to back after using the toilet to avoid contamination by fecal bacteria. Change out of your swimsuit promptly after swimming to avoid prolonged wetness that can promote bacterial growth.

4. Appropriate clothing

Wear cotton underwear and avoid tight clothing that can cause irritation and promote infections.

5. Urination after intercourse

Urinate after each intercourse to flush out any bacteria that may have entered the urethra.

6. Probiotics

Eat probiotic-rich foods, such as yogurt, to promote healthy vaginal flora. This can help prevent UTIs.

7. Limit the consumption of irritating substances

Reduce your intake of coffee, alcohol, spices, and sweets, as these substances can irritate the bladder.

8. Monitoring and rapid response

Be alert to the first signs of cystitis (burning when urinating, frequent urge to urinate, cloudy or foul-smelling urine) and seek medical attention promptly to prevent the infection from getting worse.

By following these tips, you will significantly reduce the risk of developing cystitis during the summer and fully enjoy this time of year.
