Jérémie (Grande Anse, Haiti), May 16, 2024 [AlterPresse] — Divisional Commissioner Frantz Saint-Armand was installed, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, as the new departmental director of the Haitian National Police (Pnh) in Grande Anse (part of South-West Haiti) , learns the online agency AlterPresse.
He replaces in this position the divisional commissioner Louis Edner Yacinthe, against whom there have been strong institutional protests from national police officers in recent weeks.
The dismissal of Louis Edner Yacinthe was demanded by several police officers in Jérémie as well as the two police unions (the National Police Union of Haiti / Spnh-17 and the National Union of Haitian Police Officers / Synapoha), who denounced his actions which would tend to tarnish the image of the institution in the department.
In Jérémie (Grande Anse), supported by residents, several police officers gathered on Friday May 10, 2024, in front of the premises of the Departmental Police Directorate, to demand the immediate replacement of Louis Edner Yacinthe. [emb rc apr 16/05/2024 09:25]
