The Haitian delegation, composed of about fifteen members including seven athletes, is preparing to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, from July 26 to August 4. According to Dr. Hans Larsen, president of the Haitian Olympic Committee (COH), Haiti will participate in this event without the financial support of the Haitian government. Despite multiple requests for funding, the Haitian state has not disbursed anything so far, pushing the COH to rely on the private sector and sponsors to cover the costs of participation.
The Haitian delegation, led by Fritz Gérald Fong and other members of the COH, will participate in five disciplines: athletics, boxing, gymnastics, judo and swimming. However, two taekwondo athletes noted for their recent performances will not be present due to lack of invitation. This participation recalls the sacrifices of Haitian athletes, such as Sylvio Cator who, in 1928, financed his participation in the Olympic Games by selling his car. The flag bearers of Haiti for this edition will be Lindzee Brown and Philippe Métellus.
