P-au-P, August 29, 2024 [AlterPresse] — Two (2) people, including a national police officer, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the shooting, on the morning of Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in Delmas 75 (northeast of the capital, Port-au-Prince), of the agent of the 28th promotion of the National Police of Haiti (Pnh), Nathanielle Médjine Michelinforms the police institution, in a note which was seen by the online agency AlterPresse.
The people arrested in this case are national police officer Jean Andersen Cantave, agent 2, assigned to the Departmental Law Enforcement Unit/West-I (Udmo/West-I) and his wife Nathalie Michel, sister of the victim.
“This crime will not go unpunished,” the PNH attempts to reassure, announcing the opening of an in-depth investigation by the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), in order to find the perpetrators, co-perpetrators and accomplices involved in the assassination of policewoman Nathanielle Médjine Michel.
Police officer Nathanielle Médjine Michel was shot several times on Rue Cassagnol, while she was on her way to her work station at the Delmas 75 police station.
13 bullet holes were noted on the victim’s car, reports the National Union of Haitian Police Officers (Synapoha) on its X account.
In a tweet, the other Union of the National Police of Haiti (Spnh-17) denounces a planned and revolting assassination.
“These acts must not go unpunished. The PNH must arrest the culprits and they must pay for this crime,” demands the SPNH-17.
On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, on Camille Léon Street in downtown Port-au-Prince, police officer Barbara Fécu was shot and killed.by armed men, during an attempted kidnapping.
The thugs took the victim’s firearm.
