haiti-crisis:-towards-the-availability-of-fuel-in-petrol-pumps

Approximately 400,800 gallons of Diesel and 758,450 gallons of Gasoline, 133 tankers loaded with fuel: such is the delivery report established by those responsible for the largest oil site in Haiti, Terminal Varreux, for the days of Friday 3 and last Saturday, May 4, with a view to making petroleum products available in the various gas pumps in the Metropolitan area.

It was the officials themselves who announced the news via the institution’s social network X (twitter). They took the opportunity to salute the intervention of the Haitian National Police (PNH), in particular the specialized CIMO, UDMO, SWAT and Coast Guard units which play a crucial role in securing the delivery of fuel to service stations. and in reducing informal sales which fuel the black market.

Supporting service stations in distributing fuel to vehicle drivers is an essential step in restoring a regular and legal supply, while minimizing risks to public safety. However, this requires effective coordination between law enforcement, local authorities and oil industry stakeholders to ensure the fuel reaches consumers safely and equitably. In addition, measures must be taken to combat smuggling networks and the illegal sale of fuel, which can compromise the economic stability and security of the country.

It is therefore crucial, after restoring access routes to Terminal Varreux, that the PNH continues to play an active role in securing critical infrastructure such as oil terminals and to collaborate with other government agencies to prevent activities fuel-related crimes. Knowing that the unavailability of products at gas stations was due to widespread insecurity and the proliferation of armed gangs across the capital.
