Eight people were struck by lightning on Wednesday in Saint Raphael, reports the media RFM on its X account (formerly Twitter). The victims were reportedly gathered under a tree to protect themselves from the rain when lightning struck the shrub and killed them.
The victims had gathered to watch a football match when rain broke out and forced them to take shelter under a tree. The weather not only spoiled the gathering of these football lovers, but also caused their deaths when lightning struck them violently.
In addition to killing eight people, the lightning struck injured six others, according to the HC Network mediacitingHans Renel Elan, the justice of the peace of the commune.
The survivors were taken to a hospital for treatment, HC Network reported.
