Port-au-Prince on July 21, 2024 [AlterPresse] — Elections are starting to take a place as an important topic in the news. But there are big problems that must find a solution at least so that the right of citizens to participate in elections can be respected.
If elections were held today, only 3 out of 10 people would go to the polls, according to a Policité and Internews investigation. Results from July 15 in Port-au-Prince.
One of the reasons why people would not be interested in voting is the issue of insecurity.
Another important element is mistrust. Only 2 out of 100 people trust the electoral system.
